Q: What is the difference between Revibe Classic, Revibe Connect, and Revibe Connect PLUS?

A: Revibe Classic, Revibe Connect and Revibe Connect PLUS are all anti-distraction wristbands that improve focus and attention with quiet, gentle vibration reminders.

Revibe Classic and Revibe Connect use research-based tables to estimate when the best time to send a reminder vibration to the wrist of the user.
Revibe Connect PLUS uses a patent-pending machine learning algorithm to learn the user's focus needs, and adapt the frequency of the reminders to the individual. Users are instructed (via directions for parents and/or online training video) to simply ask themselves if they are doing what they should be doing when they feel a vibration on their wrist, tapping the device twice if on-task, and once if off-task.

With all devices, the goal is to reinforce positive behavior and foster independence by increasing meta-cognition or the act of thinking about one's own thoughts.

Q: What does it do? How does it work?

A: Revibe Classic sends silent vibration reminders to the wrists of kids who may be off-task, to gently remind them to get back to their work, studies, etc.

Revibe Classic uses research-based tables to estimate when the best time to send a reminder vibration to the wrist of the user would be based on user type (there are 4 variants; Low, Moderate and High levels of off-task behavior plus a Homework Mode). A patent-pending algorithm changes various factors to reduce the chances a user will get used to the vibrations.

Users are instructed (via directions for parents and/or online training video) to simply ask themselves if they are doing what they should be doing when they feel a vibration on their wrist. If they ARE doing what they should be, they should use it a positive reinforcer (i.e. Keep doing that behavior/keep up the good work). If not, they should think to themselves, "I need to get back to work". The goal is to foster independence by increasing meta-cognition or the act of thinking about one's own thoughts.

Q: How does it know when to vibrate?

A: Revibe Classic approximates when and how to alert users based their reported level of need. We've developed three research-based, pre-programmed settings to cover various levels of difficulty in staying on-task (plus an additional mode to help with homework):

1- Mildly Off-task (occasionally daydreams)

2- Moderately Off-task (often daydreams)

3- Significantly Off-task (constantly daydreams)

Q: What kind of kids might Revibe Classic work best with?

A: Our most economical option, Revibe Classic offers basic features.Revibe Classic is best suited for younger, less developed kids who need a distraction free design (no buttons or screen) to help them stay on task.

Q: Is it hard to "program"?

A: No. "Programming" takes about 10 seconds (because we've already done the the programming for you). All you have to do is select what behavior type the person wearing it demonstrates. Just use the plastic programmer tool (included) to push the Action Button (hidden within the underside of plastic enclosure).

Select one of the four modes by pushing the button in and waiting for the vibration to tell you which number mode your in (1 vibration for mode one, 2 vibrations for mode two, etc):

1- Mildly Distracted

2- Moderately Distracted

3- Significantly Distracted

4- Homework Mode

Keep pushing the button until you get to the desired mode number, then hold the button down for five seconds to save it. Your selection will remain saved unless the battery dies. Click hereto view our Manual for more details.

Q: Is the programming flexible for different tasks?

A: Yes, the 4 pre-configured settings usually work well to keep users alert and aware of their own actions which can help them to better stay on-task.

Q: Is Revibe Classic waterproof?

A: Revibe Classic is splash-proof, not waterproof. It is ok to wash hands while wearing Revibe Classic. Please do not bathe, swim, or submerge Revibe Original underwater.

Q: How do I know which size to order?

A: Regular fits most people, even children. We recommend measuring the wrist with a measuring tape (or use a string, then measure the string with a ruler).

Small fits wrists that measure 11.5 cm - 14.5 cm. Regular fits wrists that measure 14.5 cm - 19 cm.

Q: Does the Revibe Classic also have a watch feature built in?

A: No.

Q: Where is the On/Off Switch?

A: Kids tend to play with things that are there, especially buttons; so we've eliminated it! Revibe Classic knows when kids are wearing it and turns itself on when in use; it also knows when they're not, and puts itself to sleep. The only programming button is hidden inside the enclosure and is only accessed with the included programming tool. To manually turn Revibe Original off or on, quickly double-tap the Action Button.

Q: How long does the battery last?

A: The rechargeable battery keeps Revibe Classic going for approximately 7+ days on a single charge. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge.

Q: What does it do? How does it work?

A: Revibe Connect PLUS sends silent vibration reminders to the wrists of kids, to gently remind them to get back to their work, studies, etc.

Revibe Connect PLUS’s new Adaptive Mode learns when the best time to send a reminder vibration to the wrist of the user should be based on how on-task or off-task the child is. It also adapts according to the user’s schedule, as students tend to struggle more in some classes than others.

Revibe Connect PLUSalso has four more modes, which use research-based tables to estimate when the best time to send a reminder vibration to the wrist of the user would be based on the settings selected by the user. These 4 modes are: Low, Moderate and High levels of off-task behavior plus a Homework Mode.

All five modes contain a patent-pending algorithm that changes various factors to reduce the chances of habituation, or a user getting used to the vibrations.

Users are instructed (via directions for parents and/or online training video) to simply ask themselves if they are doing what they should be doing when they feel a vibration on their wrist. If they ARE doing what they should be, they should use it a positive reinforcer, “Keep up the good work!” and tap twice on the Revibe Connect PLUS. If not, they should think to themselves, "I need to get back to work" and tap once on the Revibe Connect PLUS. The goal is to foster independence by increasing metacognition or the act of thinking about one's own thoughts.

Q: How does it know when to vibrate?

A: Revibe Connect PLUS approximates how to alert users based on their reported level of need. We've developed five research-based, pre-programmed settings to cover various levels of difficulty staying on-task:

1- Mildly Off-task (occasionally daydreams): Reminders about every 10 minutes

2- Moderately Off-task (often daydreams): Reminders about every 7 minutes

3- Significantly Off-task (constantly daydreams): Reminders about every 4 minutes

Homework Mode: Reminders about every 3 minutes for 15 minutes of working, then cues the user to take a five minute break.

Adaptive Learning Mode: Uses a machine learning algorithm to learn the needs of the user, based on their responses to the prompts. Each reminder offers the user the opportunity to tap-back and let Revibe Connect PLUS know if they were on-task or off-task. Adaptive Learning Mode will learn the user’s needs and begin to either increase or decrease the frequency of reminders accordingly.

Q: What kind of kids might Revibe Connect PLUS work best with?

A: Revibe Connect PLUS is best suited for kids who may have to rely upon teachers and parents to help stay on-task. While it won't motivate kids who don't want to stick to their work, it will provide much needed reminders for those who do. Revibe Connect PLUS is for those who want the most personalized experience, as it enables the device toadapt to the user's needs and allows the user to track their progress.

Q: Is it hard to "program"?

A: Selecting which mode to use is easy, but does require you to download the Revibe Connect App. Our app is available for both iOS and Android.

Q: How do I adjust the intensity of the vibration reminders?

If you are concerned that the intensity of the vibration is either too strong, or not strong enough, you can adjust this in the app under Settings>Preferences>User Device Preferences.

Q: How do I clear a text reminder from the screen?

A: Simply tap once on the text reminder to acknowledge and clear it.

Q: Is Revibe Connect PLUS waterproof?

A: Revibe Connect PLUS is water resistant, not waterproof. It is ok to wash hands while wearing RevibeConnect PLUS. Please do not bathe, swim, or submerge Revibe Connect PLUS underwater.

Q: How do I know which size to order?

A: Small fits wrists that measure 10 cm - 18 cm. Regular fits wrists that measure 14 cm - 22 cm. We recommend measuring the wrist with a measuring tape (or use a string, then measure the string with a ruler).

Q: Does Revibe Connect PLUS also have a watch feature built in?

A: Yes! There is a time display on the screen that shows the time when you tap it. There is a setting in the app where you can disable the time display, if you are concerned that this may be a distraction.

Q: Does Revibe recommend which wrist to wear Revibe Connect PLUS on?

We recommend wearing Revibe Connect PLUS on the dominant hand. It can tell the difference between handwriting and fidgeting.

Q: Where is the On/Off Switch?

A: In the app, there is an “off” mode that can be found under Settings>Preferences>User Device Preferences.

Q: How long does the battery last?

A: The rechargeable battery keeps Revibe Connect PLUS going throughout the day. We recommend charging Revibe Connect PLUS each night.

Q: How does Revibe connect with the app?

Revibe connects with the app via Bluetooth. The app works with wi-fi and cellular data.

Q: How close does the Revibe device need to be to the device with the app to sync?

A: Within approximately 20 feet. So, in order for parents to be updated while their child is at school, there would need to be a teacher device such as a smartphone or tablet with the app installed and the device synced to it. Otherwise, it won't update until the device is at home and within the 20 feet radius of the parent smartphone or tablet.

Q: What if my child is not honest about whether they are on-task or off-task?

A: This is a concern that many parents have, and it is understandable. This is the reason why we have metrics that reward the user for their participation, such as Focus Score, a metric that combines multiple factors to show the overall performance, and Response Rate, shows the percentage of times the user responded to reminders. Our goal is to incentivize the user to participate with the device honestly by enabling reaching goals and earning badges just by engaging with Revibe Connect PLUS and tapping back. According to our research, most students are honest when they are asked to self-assess. It may help to explain to them that the Adapt Mode will only be able to help them during the times when they need it most if they are honest. If you program your schedule into the app, the Adapt Mode will learn which times of day (or which classes) are most challenging, and adapt the frequency of reminders accordingly.

Q: I have more than one child that needs this device. Do you have any special offers for families?

A: Our app is set up to handle multiple users. We offer a discount on the app subscription for families. Please contactsales@revibetech.com for more info.

Q: Why is there a paid subscription to the smartphone app?

A: Revibe Connect PLUS collects a huge amount of data about the user’s behavior and activity, far more data than most wearables collect. Our goal is to be able to offer advanced insights that will help the user understand themselves and how to improve. There are costs associated with storing this data over time, which is why we have a fee for the Data Plan. We do offer your first month of the Data Plan for free, so you can see the value and test it out. There is also a free version of the app that allows you to use four modes: Low, Medium, High, and Homework.

Q: What is the minimum OS version needed for the app?

A: Either iOS 11, or Android 6.

Q: Can others around the wearer hear or detect the vibrations?

A: No, the vibration motors are whisper-quiet, and undetectable by others. Revibe was created for classroom use, so this was a significant consideration in the design.

Q: Can a Revibe device'Sense' when you are off-task?

A: No. It's important to keep in mind that Revibe devices use a research-based estimation algorithm based on your user settings. It reminds you to ask yourself if you are on-task; it doesn't 'sense' when you are off-task. If it vibrates when you are on-task, use it as a cue to continue that positive behavior; if not on-task, use it to remember to get back to work.

Q: Does it help at home?

A: Many users report wearing a Revibe deviceat home to help stay on-task with homework. We have a mode designed specifically for homework, which provides reminders prompts, and also tells kids when they should start/stop working, when it's time for a break, and when it's time to return to work again. Some also report wearing it for staying on-task with general household tasks/chores.

Q: What is homework mode?

A: Homework mode uses vibrations to tell your child when to start working, when to take a break and when to get back to work, so you don't have to. It also also sends periodic vibration reminders while your child is working, to help keep them on-task. This preset mode lets them work for 15 minutes, then take a break for 5 minutes. Red and blue lights flash during breaktime, and then turn off when it's time to get back to work.
