Q: What is the difference between Revibe Connect and Revibe Original?

A: Revibe Connect and Revibe Original are both anti-distraction wristbands that improve focus and attention with quiet, gentle vibration reminders.

Revibe Original uses research-based tables to estimate when the best time to send a reminder vibration to the wrist of the user.  Revibe Connect uses a patent-pending machine learning algorithm to learn the user's focus needs, and adapt the frequency of the reminders to the individual.

Users are instructed (via directions for parents and/or online training video) to simply ask themselves if they are doing what they should be doing when they feel a vibration on their wrist. Revibe Connect enables kids to participate and reinforce positive behavior by tapping the device twice if on-task, and once if off-task. With both devices, the goal is to foster independence by increasing meta-cognition or the act of thinking about one's own thoughts.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT REVIBE CONNECT:

Q: What does it do? How does it work?

A: Revibe Connect sends silent vibration reminders to the wrists of kids, to gently remind them to get back to their work, studies, etc.

Revibe Connect’s new Adaptive Mode learns when the best time to send a reminder vibration to the wrist of the user should be based on how on-task or off-task the child is. It also adapts according to the user’s schedule, as students tend to struggle more in some classes than others.

Revibe Connect also has all four modes from Revibe Original, which use research-based tables to estimate when the best time to send a reminder vibration to the wrist of the user would be based on the settings selected by the user. These 4 modes are: Low, Moderate and High levels of off-task behavior plus a Homework Mode.

All five modes contain a patent-pending algorithm that changes various factors to reduce the chances of habituation, or a user getting used to the vibrations.

Users are instructed (via directions for parents and/or online training video) to simply ask themselves if they are doing what they should be doing when they feel a vibration on their wrist. If they ARE doing what they should be, they should use it a positive reinforcer, “Keep up the good work!” and tap twice on the Revibe Connect (as directed by on-screen infographic). If not, they should think to themselves, "I need to get back to work" and tap once on the Revibe Connect. The goal is to foster independence by increasing metacognition or the act of thinking about one's own thoughts.

Q: How does it know when to vibrate?

A: Revibe Connect approximates how to alert users based on their reported level of need. We've developed five research-based, pre-programmed settings to cover various levels of difficulty staying on-task:

Low:  (Mildly off-task, occasionally daydreams): Reminders about every 10 minutes

Medium: (Moderately off-task, often daydreams): Reminders about every 7 minutes

High: (Significantly off-task, constantly daydreams): Reminders about every 4 minutes

Homework Mode: Reminders about every 3 minutes for 15 minutes of working, then cues the user to take a five minute break.

Adaptive Learning Mode: Uses a machine learning algorithm to learn the needs of the user, based on their responses to the prompts. Each reminder offers the user the opportunity to tap-back and let Revibe Connect know if they were on-task or off-task. Adaptive Learning Mode will learn the user’s needs and begin to either increase or decrease the frequency of reminders and feelings of vibrations accordingly.

Q: Can others around the wearer hear or detect the vibrations?

A: No, Revibe Connect's vibration motor is nearly whisper-quiet, and undetectable by others. Revibe Connect was created for classroom use, so this was a significant consideration in the design.

Q: What kind of kids might Revibe Connect work best with?

A: Revibe Connect is best suited for kids who may have to rely upon teachers and parents to help stay on-task. While it won't motivate kids who don't want to stick to their work, it will provide much needed reminders for those who do.

Q: Can Revibe Connect automatically 'sense' when you are off-task?

A: No. It's important to keep in mind that while Revibe Connect has an Adaptive Mode to learn and predict when the best times for each user's reminders may be, it does not automatically 'detect' when someone is off-task.  Instead, it makes calculations based on real-time user input and vibrates at the times the users is most likely to need a reminder.  If it vibrates when you are on-task, use it as a cue to continue that positive behavior; if not on-task, use it to remember to get back to work.

Q: Is it hard to "program"?

A: Selecting which mode to use is easy, but does require you to download the Revibe Connect App. Our app is available for both iOS and Android.

Q: Does it help at home?

A: Many users report wearing Revibe Connect at home to help stay on-task. We have a mode designed specifically for homework, and some report wearing it for staying on-task with general household tasks/chores. You can also set custom text reminders to be sent to the wrist of the user like, “Homework Time”, or “Don’t forget your backpack”.

    Q: What is Homework Mode?

A: Homework Mode tells your child when to start working, and when to take a break, so you don't have to. It also also sends periodic vibration reminders while your child is working, to help keep them on-task. This preset mode lets them work for 15 minutes, then take a break for 5 minutes. There will be a message on the screen that shows when it is break time, and when it is time to return to working.

    Q: Is Revibe Connect waterproof?

A: Revibe Connect is water resistant, not waterproof. It is ok to wash hands while wearing Revibe  Connect. Please do not bathe, swim, or submerge Revibe Connect underwater.

Q: Can I order a replacement wrist band?

A: Yes! Visit our product page, and select "replacement band" from the dropdown box.

Q: Does it come with a warranty?

A: Yes, it comes with a 1 year Limited Warranty. Click here for more details.

Q: How do I know which size to order?

A: Small fits wrists that measure 10 cm - 18 cm. Regular fits wrists that measure 14 cm - 22 cm. We recommend measuring the wrist with a measuring tape (or use a string, then measure the string with a ruler).

Q: Does the Revibe Connect also have a watch feature built in?

A: Yes! There is a time display on the screen that shows the time when you tap it. There is a setting in the app where you can disable the time display, if you are concerned that this may be a distraction.

Q: Is Revibe Connect on Donors Choose?

A: We are an approved vendor at DonorsChoose.org. It is free for teachers to create a project, and donors can provide funds to cover the costs of Revibe Connect for your classroom. We have had teachers get matching funds from The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation! Pretty cool! :-)

Q: Could Revibe Connect be used for potty training reminders?

A: Revibe Connect is not intended for potty training; there are other reminder watches on the market that may be a better solution for potty training reminders.

Q: Can adults use Revibe Connect?

A: Yes! We have a lot of adult customers who use this for work or study. The "regular" size fits most adults.

Q: Is there any research or scientific studies about Revibe Connect?

A: Yes! Please click here to read our case study on the core algorithms that power Revibe. We will continue to conduct research studies in the future, to help us improve future versions. :-)

Q: Where is the On/Off Switch?

A: In the app, there is an “off” mode that can be found under Settings>Preferences>User Device Preferences.

Q: How long does the battery last?

A: The rechargeable battery keeps Revibe Connect going throughout the day. We recommend charging Revibe Connect each night.

Q: Can it be worn all day at school?

A: Yes, it can be worn all day at school, but like any watch or wristband, we do recommend taking it off at the end of the day.

Q: Can we get a grant to pay for these for our school?

A: We are an approved vendor at DonorsChoose.org. We also have a 100% money back 90 day return policy to ensure every student, teacher and parent is happy with their Revibe Connect : )

Q: Do you have any special offers for schools or for buying in bulk?

A: Yes! We offer bulk discounts and school pricing. For more information, including our current school offers, please contact sales@revibetech.com.

Q: Can Revibe Connect treat or cure conditions associated with inattention?

A: No. It's important to remember that Revibe Connect is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any diseases or conditions. Instead, Revibe Connect is a behavioral tool which is designed to provide simple prompts for anyone and everyone who needs a reminder to get back to work.

Q: What if my child is not honest about whether they are on-task or off-task?

This is a concern that many parents have, and it is understandable. This is the reason why we have metrics that reward the user for their participation, such as Focus Score, a metric that combines multiple factors to show the overall performance, and Response Rate, shows the percentage of times the user responded to reminders. Our goal is to incentivize the user to participate with the device honestly by enabling reaching goals and earning badges just by engaging with Revibe Connect and tapping back. According to our research and the research of others, most students are honest when they are asked to self-assess. It may help to explain to them that the Adapt Mode will only be able to help them during the times when they need it most if they are honest. If you program your schedule into the app, the Adapt Mode will learn which times of day (or which classes) are most challenging, and adapt the frequency of reminders accordingly.

Q: I have more than one child that needs this device. Do you have any special offers for families?

Our app is set up to handle multiple users. We offer a discount on the app subscription for families. Please contact sales@revibetech.com for more info.

Q: Why is there a paid subscription to the smartphone app?

Revibe Connect collects a huge amount of data about the user’s behavior and activity, far more data than most wearables collect. Our goal is to be able to offer advanced insights that will help the user understand themselves and how to improve. There are costs associated with storing this data over time, which is why we have a fee for the Data Plan. We do offer your first month of the Data Plan for free, so you can see the value and test it out. There is also a free version of the app that allows you to use four modes: Low, Medium, High, and Homework.

Q: How secure and private is the data that you will be collecting?

We take privacy seriously, which is why all of the data that we collect is securely stored on HIPAA compliant servers.

Q: How long do you store the data that is collected?

A: With the paid subscription, we will store data as long as you are subscribed.

Q: If I choose to unsubscribe, will my data be deleted?

A: If you decide to cancel your subscription, we will save your data for up to 60 days in case you would like to renew. After 60 days, we will delete the data. Please see our Data Information Policy for more details.

Q: How do I adjust the intensity of the vibration reminders?

If you are concerned that the intensity of the vibration is either too strong, or not strong enough, you can adjust this in the app under Settings>Preferences>User Device Preferences.

Q: Do you offer a money back guarantee?

A: Yes! We want you to be happy with your purchase. We offer a 90 Day 100% Money Back Guarantee for the device. If, for any reason, you do not wish to keep the device, just let us know. We are happy to fully refund you! We even cover shipping both ways! :-)

Q: Do you have a scholarship program?

A: Unfortunately we do not currently have a program to donate devices to individuals. This is something that we are looking into developing for the future. Please be sure to subscribe to receive our email updates to stay up to date on our current offers.

Q: Would you donate a device for our nonprofit fundraiser?

A: We do have a limited number of devices available to be donated to nonprofits and community groups who share our values and mission. To apply to receive a Revibe Connect for your organization, please email support@revibetech.com .
